Review: Windmill Hill Golf Course

February 11, 2017

While the slow round definitely soured my experience here, Windmill Hill is an affordable, well-designed executive course I recommend checking out if you need some iron practice. … More Review: Windmill Hill Golf Course

Review: West Warwick Country Club

February 4, 2017

Relatively underrated, West Warwick features private course conditions and a challenging 9-hole set-up. It’s on par with nearby Midville and is definitely a course to try if you’re looking to play somewhere new. … More Review: West Warwick Country Club

Review: Rhode Island Children’s Golf Course at Washington Village

February 3, 2017

Well-kept and short, RICGC at Washington Village went through many changes throughout the years to adapt, but in the end fell short, and was forced to close.  … More Review: Rhode Island Children’s Golf Course at Washington Village

Review: Valley Country Club

January 19, 2017

Valley isn’t an elite private course by any means, but it is a fun, challenging layout with some memorable holes. I recommend playing this well-kept course if you get a chance. … More Review: Valley Country Club

Review: Triggs Memorial Golf Course

January 6, 2017

The urban Triggs is a classic Donald Ross design and easily the best public course in the Providence area. With that being said, glacial pace of play and virtually no amenities leave me always feeling a bit disappointed. … More Review: Triggs Memorial Golf Course

Review: Silver Spring Golf Course

December 29, 2016

While a decent course for beginners or those on a budget, Silver Spring’s confusing at best and dangerous at worst layout renders it a course to skip. … More Review: Silver Spring Golf Course

Review: Rose Hill Golf Club

December 24, 2016

It’s hard for me to rank an executive course highly, but make no mistake: Rose Hill is one of the better executive courses out there. This challenging, well-conditioned course is a fun round and one I can recommend to anyone that wants to get some iron practice in. … More Review: Rose Hill Golf Club

Review: Rolling Greens Golf Course

December 22, 2016

Rolling Greens lags behind several good nearby public courses in pretty much every category and is not worth a play in my opinion. … More Review: Rolling Greens Golf Course

Review: Richmond Country Club

December 12, 2016

Enjoyable but a tad bit goofy, Richmond truly feels like a course taken from the Carolinas with tall pines lining the fairways. It is in decent shape, affordable, and should be in any Rhode Islander’s public course rotation. … More Review: Richmond Country Club

Review: Quidnessett Country Club

December 2, 2016

The views, amenities, and conditions at Quidnessett are fantastic, but a pedestrian Cornish design keeps it from being one of Rhode Island’s elite courses. Nonetheless, it’s a very solid course that I recommend if you get an opportunity to play it. … More Review: Quidnessett Country Club

The par 4 15th at Cabot Links is an incredible hole. From the teebox basically on the beach to the elevated and extremely challenging green, this is a world-class links hole and one of the best at the Resort.
For many, the 6th hole at Cabot Links is their favorite hole on the course as a long very difficult 450 yard Cape hole playing around a fishing inlet. This hole is indeed memorable and very hard, but I didn’t think it really fit with the linksy feel of the rest of the course. As a standalone hole, it’s spectacular, but I felt it belongs more on a Florida course than one in Nova Scotia. For those who’ve played it, would love to hear your thoughts!
Now posted, my review of Cabot Links, the first of the two magnificent courses at the Cabot Resort!
Patriot Hills features many holes with elevated teeboxed but none seem as severe or beautiful as the 11th hole, a long par 4 that plays much shorter than the scorecard. Strategic bunkers line both sides and the hole then runs back uphill towards a table-top green. There are several holes like this at Patriot Hills and they are a blast to play!
One of the best things about golf instagram is discovering new courses. When I saw Patriot Hills a few years back, I knew I had to play it. I finally was able to this Fall and really enjoyed it.
Wolf Creek has some extremely difficult holes including two par threes on the front 9 that are among the hardest I’ve ever seen. The 8th hole is probably the most difficult on the course as a 248 yard downhill par 3 from the Back Tees. This target green is surrounded by a river short, left, and long with very little room for error. Tall hills surround the creek and make for a truly beautiful hole.
