The Golf Club at Mansion Ridge is a Jack Nicklaus design that opened in 1999 about an hour northwest of NYC at the foot of the Catskills.

Lots of discussion over the last few days about Harbour Town’s par threes. They are certainly one of the best sets out there and are standout holes on the course. While all four play over water and similar distances, they are very different and provide different challenges.

The PGA Tour returns to Harbour Town tomorrow for the RBC Heritage, one of the premier tournaments of the year. I was fortunate to play Harbour Town a few years ago and it is a very interesting course.

As someone who has been fortunate to play most of the best courses in the state, I find Connecticut to be very interesting golf-wise. It is not as good as neighbors New York or Massachusetts but boasts impressive depth with a top 10 that is as varied and tight as any state. I think Yale will be the cream of the crop once Gil Hanse finishes his renovation, but right now I think you’d be justified if you said any of the top 10 courses in the state was your favorite.

Hidden Creek opened in 2002 and is the first and only course in NJ from Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. A member of Dormie Network, this course is one of the best in South Jersey and in my opinion quite underrated.
