Review: Fox Harb’r Resort (Championship)

May 8, 2020

Superb conditioning, world-class amenities, and a beautiful setting make the isolated Fox Harb’r a perfect getaway for couples and families alike. Golf architecture junkies, however, might be underwhelmed with the layout and should focus on Cape Breton nearby. … More Review: Fox Harb’r Resort (Championship)

The par 4 15th at Cabot Links is an incredible hole. From the teebox basically on the beach to the elevated and extremely challenging green, this is a world-class links hole and one of the best at the Resort.
For many, the 6th hole at Cabot Links is their favorite hole on the course as a long very difficult 450 yard Cape hole playing around a fishing inlet. This hole is indeed memorable and very hard, but I didn’t think it really fit with the linksy feel of the rest of the course. As a standalone hole, it’s spectacular, but I felt it belongs more on a Florida course than one in Nova Scotia. For those who’ve played it, would love to hear your thoughts!
Now posted, my review of Cabot Links, the first of the two magnificent courses at the Cabot Resort!
Patriot Hills features many holes with elevated teeboxed but none seem as severe or beautiful as the 11th hole, a long par 4 that plays much shorter than the scorecard. Strategic bunkers line both sides and the hole then runs back uphill towards a table-top green. There are several holes like this at Patriot Hills and they are a blast to play!
One of the best things about golf instagram is discovering new courses. When I saw Patriot Hills a few years back, I knew I had to play it. I finally was able to this Fall and really enjoyed it.
Wolf Creek has some extremely difficult holes including two par threes on the front 9 that are among the hardest I’ve ever seen. The 8th hole is probably the most difficult on the course as a 248 yard downhill par 3 from the Back Tees. This target green is surrounded by a river short, left, and long with very little room for error. Tall hills surround the creek and make for a truly beautiful hole.
