Review: East Greenwich Golf Club
While East Greenwich packs a punch few 9 hole courses in the area can, poor conditioning and overpricing make East Greenwich a course to avoid. … More Review: East Greenwich Golf Club

Crystal Lake is clearly the best public course in Rhode Island north of Providence. While not a must-play, the conditioning and beautiful scenery here make it a fun, worthwhile round. … More Review: Crystal Lake Golf Club
Cranston CC is the premier public course in central Rhode Island, but left me underwhelmed. While conditioning is solid, typically lackluster Cornish hole designs do little to make this course stand out. Cranston CC is firmly in the middle tier of Rhode Island public courses at a top tier price. … More Review: Cranston Country Club
Country View is way out in the country and pretty average in terms of conditioning and pricing. This is not a must-play course, but it did have some fun holes, especially on the back 9. … More Review: Country View Golf Club
A short, tight and, forgettable 9-hole course in Western Rhode Island, Coventry Pines is in poor shape and is not a course I’d recommend. … More Review: Coventry Pines Golf Course
I can’t rank Button Hole highly because it is a short course, but I will point out that it accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do. As an affordable, well-kept urban course, Button Hole has provided many kids the joy of golf and has a wonderful track record. If you are learning how to play golf, I highly recommend Button Hole but this is probably not a course for serious golfers. … More Review: Button Hole Short Course
There are few absolutes on my blog, but here is one: If a course is featured in the New York Times for how bad it is, then it will be at the basement of my rankings. Bristol GC is only worth a play if you enjoy sarcasm or want to truly appreciate the good courses. … More Review: Bristol Golf Club
Quirky and short, Beaver River is a decent course very similar to Richmond Country Club, but not quite on the same level of Meadow Brook down the street. The best part about Beaver River is the conditioning, which is above average for public courses in the state. I highly recommend Beaver River for shorter, accurate golfers who will enjoy these short, tight holes. For longer and more advanced players, Beaver River’s cramped design might leave you underwhelmed. … More Review: Beaver River Golf Club
Alpine CC is a nice, well-conditioned course I consider one of Geoff Cornish’s better designs. The amenities here are fantastic and you get the sense that the Club is thriving and always packed. While the course itself isn’t one I’d go out of my way to play, I’d gladly play here when given the opportunity. … More Review: Alpine Country Club
Agawam is the prime example of how too much change is a bad thing when it comes to golf course design. Once one of the most exclusive and best Donald Ross designs in Rhode Island, Agawam has had more plastic surgery than any other course in the state and feels disjointed for this reason. Despite several good holes, don’t be surprised if you leave here feeling underwhelmed. … More Review: Agawam Hunt
